Free literature review matrix builder

Keep each paper, its finding and the passage behind that finding together. Start with your saved literature library, a template or an existing matrix, then keep an editable copy for your next reading session.

This tool organizes your notes. It does not retrieve papers, verify citations, assess study quality or run AI research.

Your entries and imported files stay in this tab and are not uploaded or automatically saved. Save an editable file before reloading or leaving, then open that file here to continue.

Choose a Keryx matrix JSON file, a literature workspace backup JSON, or a UTF-8 CSV with the template's nine column names. Maximum 6 MiB for matrices, 1 MiB for literature backups, 50 sources and 2,000 characters per matrix field. Files are read only in your browser.

Already saved papers in Keryx? Download a backup from your literature workspace, then open it here to start a matrix with your sources and screening notes. Open literature workspace in a new tab

Sources in this matrix: 0 / 50

No sources yet. Download an empty template, or add your first source below.

Exports contain all your source rows and the research question. Formula-like cell values receive a leading apostrophe for spreadsheet safety.

How to use the matrix

  1. Write a focused research question, open your literature workspace backup to reuse sources and screening notes, or reopen a saved matrix.
  2. Add one source at a time. Keep multiple reports of one study linked in your notes.
  3. Record the finding in your own words and the page, section or table you checked.
  4. Keep limitations and screening decisions visible. Save an editable copy before leaving; use CSV for your spreadsheet.
